August: What’s in Season?

August brings some of the most beautiful English fruits – a great excuse to make some perfect puddings for summer barbecues and entertaining.

We’ve been inspired this month by visiting local Brogdale Collections – home of the National Fruit Collection. We did an Orchard Tour to learn (and taste!) all about some of the fruits local to Kent. With upcoming harvests for Cherries, Plums and more.. it was an exciting time to be on the farm.

Cherries – Make the most of the last cherries so you can enjoy them all Summer long. Buy what you can, de-stone and halve. Freeze and use when you’re got people over at the last minute. Perfect with a dairy free vanilla ice cream – our favourite is Booja Booja.

Plums – perfect on a summer Pavlova. Great with lavender and elderflower. We love this recipe from Delicious Magazine.

Rhubarb –  this sharp and tangy fruit makes a fantastic compote. Try this recipe for Rhubarb, rose and cardamon jam from Diana Henry.
