THINK clinks – drinks for the Jubilee celebrations
The Jubilee weekend is fast approaching and we are planning some fun with friends and family. We like to make considered drink choices, and where possible pick something local. Below are some suggestions to help enjoy the weekend. They all hail from Kent!
Alcohol free options
We recently discovered The PPinger from Kyon Drinks. It’s packed with cold-pressed Peruvian ginger, apple, elderflower and lime, is lightly sparkling and delicious. We love that it’s low in sugar, free from artificial sweeteners, flavourings and preservatives. It can also be drunk neat or used as a mixer. Bonus points for exciting garnishes.
Fermented drinks are a favourite at THINK, though we go easy on them as some of the women on the team find they can cause bloating. There are so many great kombuchas available, but few are still made in small batches. Enter Zak’s Kombucha.
Zak’s offers handmade kombucha fermented in glass and sold in recycled glass bottles in three key flavours. We like the look of the ginger and turmeric – well, we are ginger obsessed! Then there are seasonal variations, such as rhubarb and foraged dandelion. Let us know what you think!
Wines and something sparkling
If you fancy wine or something sparkling for your celebrations then we love the sparkling Rose de Noir from Chartham Vineyard near Canterbury. If you prefer a red wine then their Pinot Noir is excellent (tip – we like this chilled, and it will keep for a week in the fridge if you don’t finish it).
Whilst you may know that red wine is seen as having greater health benefits than white, you may not have known (neither did we, thank you Google) that Pinor Noir is considered the healthiest red. This is due to the grapes having a lower sugar content and high levels of the antioxidant resveratrol. Result.
If white wine is more your thing then we’d recommend the Ortega from the Biddenden Vineyard near Ashford. This wine is so good that our founder, Alex, ordered this for her wedding! Need we say more?!
However you’re celebrating the Jubilee we hope you enjoy yourself!
